In today’s blog post we’ll talk about implant supported dentures and bridges, and how you can determine which solution to choose.

What Are Implant Supported Dentures?

First off, let's talk about dental implants. It’s a fantastic way to replace missing teeth that involves a screw-like, titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jaw bone. After the implant has time to heal, the result is a strong, steady base for a restoration. With implant supported dentures, you’ll need just two or four implants to support the dentures. This type of denture is still removable, but by stabilizing them with implants instead of an adhesive, they are totally comfortable, sturdy, and natural looking.

What Are Bridges?

Bridges are different from dentures in the sense that they are permanent. They are generally used in the same way partial dentures are, to remedy a gap of two or more missing teeth. Bridges are usually supported by healthy teeth topped with crowns on either side of the gap. However, they can also be supported by implants if there aren't healthy teeth to sustain a crown. A bridge is a permanent solution to missing teeth that allows you to forget you even had any of your natural teeth replaced! This is a very versatile solution that can be used in many different situations.
