Dentures vs Dental Implants

Cartoon figure of a woman deciding between bridges, dentures or implantsMissing teeth are often a source of embarrassment for our patients. Luckily, there are plenty of restorative dentistry options available. You have a lot of choices to replace missing teeth and start smiling confidently again.

Dentures

Dentures can replace multiple teeth at a time. You can get a partial denture or a full denture that replaces an entire arch. Custom-made dentures can give you a radiant smile that you’ve never had before. Unlike other tooth replacement options, you don’t need surgery to get dentures so you don’t have to spend time recovering.

Denture Care

Typically dentures stay attached to your gums by using a dental adhesive or paste. Clean your dentures with a denture cleaner and soft-bristled toothbrush. Other kinds of toothpaste and toothbrushes are too harsh and could damage your dentures. You will need to soak your dentures overnight in a denture solution to kill bacteria and keep them moist. We don’t recommend sleeping with your dentures in your mouth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are popular for teeth replacement because they can mimic and function just like natural teeth. You never have to worry about dental implants slipping out because they are a permanent solution. The process begins by inserting a biocompatible screw into your jaw. The screw will hold the prosthetic tooth, a custom-made crown which is fashioned to look like the rest of your teeth.

Implant Care

Dental implants are easy to clean. You don’t need to buy additional products or add extra steps to your daily oral hygiene routine. Simply brush and floss as usual.

Implant-Supported Dentures

When it comes to replacing multiple teeth, patients might shy away from a full mouth of dental implants due to the cost and multiple surgeries. But they don’t necessarily need to give up on the idea of a permanent dental restoration. We offer All-on-4® implant dentures. This revolutionary technology requires only a minimal amount of implant anchors and your denture stays in place, just like regular teeth.
